What You Can Expect as a WWOOFer at Herbhome Farm
An overview of a day at the Farm.

The Daily Routine-or taking pleasure in simple things..

There is a lot of variety in what we do daily-
we are involved in a lot of diffent things-
sometimes the drive will be working on building up our gardens,

other times getting ready for an event-
or maybe it is kidding season for our small herd of Milk goats.

But, essentially, we have a routine of things that need done each day-

So let me walk you through a typical day here.

Ways to stay at Herbhome

Much if what we do is woodland gardening of native plants and this year in particular we are intent on building.

Our focus is going to be getting our straw bale house built and creating gardens and outbuildings, doing fencing etc.

WE ARE VERY PRIMITIVE-NOT “RUSTIC” - PRIMITIVE

We welcome guest any season, but be warned you can get stuck here.

We have ice, snow, floods and other inclement weather !
Unfortunately we are not set up to handle guest under 18 at this time.
Accommodations are in three 10x 17 tents- on platforms with, 4 mattreses per tent.(They can actually sleep six in sleeping bags..)

Our bathroom is primitive- (composting toilet) and a cold water shower. If you want hot water for a bath, you heat it in large pots and pour it into the old tin bathtub…

<(One project is to set up the solar hot water heater- any takers?) Later this year we hope to have a bunkhouse built, but the house comes first- we want to be in the dry before winter with it!

Meals are family style buffet- seasonal foods-local grown poultry and meats, fresh veggies and fruit through the summer, canned or frozen through the cold months- homemade breads –

usually pretty good stuff according to our guests, LOL! Our work day starts early- breakfast at 7, roundtable after breakfast and then chores, then garden and work on projects…. Lunch at Noon- then during hot weather we take off until 5 for chores and Dinner at 6- and then back out in the cooler part of the day- It switches around in the winter- and we work after lunch until Suppertime. You left the keys where?

World Wide Opportunites on Organic Farms is a volunteer work exchange program- there are as many different faces to WWOOF hosts as there are lifestyles! We have throughly enjoyed being a host Farm and look forward to continuing to share our skills as we start from the beginning on our Grand Adventure...
