The Newton County Farmer's Market was begun in 1999, through a cooperative effort on the part of the County Extention Agent, Jack Boles and a group of local producers. We were looking for a steady local market for our produce and related items. We have many people in our area who garden and craft for whom the Market would provide a stable outlet. WEEDEN FARMS
Jeff Weeden of weeden Farms sells produce at the Newton County Farmer's Market every Wednesday. With most plants started in the greenhouse, Jeff is able to provide certain vegetables earlier than most.Mr. Weeden also experiments with uncommon varieties not normally seen in this area. The Weeden Farm is located on Smith Mountain Road 12 miles south of Jasper.
Jeff is also a bowlmaker, specializing in Native hardwoods. His works can be purchased at the Market or on the square in Jasper.
